Kefir delights

I was first introduced to Kefir 3 years ago. We have something similar in South Asia called Lassi. However I had never gone to a supermarket, or in the case of the latter, my local cornershop for a fermented yoghurt drink.

I have to say, my initial reaction, was one of “mmh…interesting”…but not for me. Not complete revulsion, more of a healthy respect for my Polish friend’s taste buds.

3 years on I drink Kefir at least once a week. I have inadvertently mixed fruits that were about to hit the food waste or ugly/inedible pile. You can blend it into the most glorious smoothies or instantaneos fruit ice cream.

I recommend, one avocado to start. Then the world is your oyster. My current favourite is passion fruit or mango. Ahh the circle of life – and back to childhood memories of Mango Lassi….
